Business Administration

The major of Business Administration includes two major categories: Human Resource Management and Innovative Entrepreneurial Management. It generally prepares undergraduates to plan, organize, direct, and control the functions and processes of a firm or organization. The courses include instruction in management theory, human resources management and behavior, accounting and other quantitative methods, purchasing and logistics, organization and production, marketing, and business decision-making. Program alumni are found to have brilliant skills and sophisticated communication skills and thus usually start their careers in financial insurance industry, manufacturing industry, Electronic communications industry, real estate industry, modern service industry or other related areas.

Marketing

The major of Marketing deals with the problems involved in entering new, foreign markets as well as in competing globally. It does so by resorting to market and competitive analysis techniques, by reviewing common distribution structures, by looking at pricing policies and at global communication techniques as well as other factors, all of which may affect not only marketing management activities but also international management decisions. This major aims to increase the students’ awareness of how the global economy and other environmental factors (political, cultural, social, competitive) may impact market entry decisions in a foreign market. It also aims to study in depth the international economic and political organizations and their impact on international business. Program alumni are found to have brilliant skills and sophisticated communication skills and thus usually start their careers in the fields of market research, marketing planning, market development, sales management, E-Marketing or related areas.

Accounting

The major of Accounting provides an introduction to the use of accounting and other information systems for decision-making. The major aims to provide a theoretical framework for examining the validity of assumptions held by accountants, develop the students’ ability to read financial statistics disclosed in accounting statements and emphasize the role of accounting as provision of information for decision-making. Program alumni are found to have brilliant skills and sophisticated communication skills and thus usually start their careers in financial enterprises, large multinational corporations in China, or famous accounting firms world wide,etc.

Financial Management

Financial managers of corporations are entrusted with the responsibility of managing the organization’s financial resources. This means obtaining and allocating financial resources wisely. Because of the constantly changing nature of the environments of economics, finance and politics with the attendant uncertainty brought about largely by the forces of globalization, the management of financial resources becomes challenging albeit rewarding. The major of Financial Management examines many of the issues confronting such managers. Topics discussed include: global dimensions of financing, foreign exchange markets and rates, derivatives, assessing and managing exposure, acquiring capital, foreign direct investment, multinational cash management, international trade finance, and the international tax and government environment,etc. Program alumni are found to have brilliant skills and sophisticated communication skills and thus usually start their careers in financial enterprises, large multinational corporations in China, or as officials of the administrative departments of the government.

Public Finance

Public finance is the study of the role of the government in the economy. It is the branch of economics which assesses the government revenue and government expenditure of the public authorities and the adjustment of one or the other to achieve desirable effects and avoid undesirable ones. The purview of public finance is considered to be threefold: governmental effects on efficient allocation of resources, distribution of income, and macroeconomic stabilization. During the study, students can build a multidisciplinary knowledge system of finance, revenue, accounting and financial management,etc. Besides, with the profound practice in Simulation Experiment Lab, students can acquire practical skills in finance and taxation. Program alumni are found to have brilliant skills and sophisticated communication skills and thus usually start their careers in financial enterprises, large multinational corporations in China, or as officials of the administrative departments of the government.

Finance

The major of Finance bases on the globally standardized field-knowledge while emphasizes the role of different financial instruments and related policies in China. One of the highlights of the SEM international education is the curricula setting that covers both internationalized field knowledge and practices in China. While teaching whole fundamentals in finance, the program pays more attention to the application and practices of these theories. Specifically, a series of local courses are set for international students, such as General Outline of China, Economics and Investment Policies in China, Topics on China’s Economy, etc. This ensures that international students in China acquire globally-standardized field knowledge as in developed countries, and at the same time, get a deep understanding of the social, historical, cultural and economical development in China, which will equip them with greater advantages in the job markets of China as well as their home countries. The major of Finance is designed to train undergraduates equipped with global view and innovative spirits, solid foundation of field theory on finance, skills required for practices on domestic and international financial markets, especially in China, and skills of multicultural communication. Program alumni are found to have brilliant skills and sophisticated communication skills in Chinese and thus usually start their career in international banks in China, as Chief Representatives of large multinational corporations in China, or as officials of the Foreign Embassy.

Economics

Based on School’s rich experience on academic research and practices, the major of Economics emphasizes theories, policies, laws and regulations, and field knowledge of practices that are closely related to modern economics. This is a four-year program with the first half focuses on the fundamentals of economics and improvement of the skill in Chinese language, while the latter half lies on the field courses and practice in the field of economic analysis, social survey and  economic experiment,etc. One of the highlights of the SEM international education is the curricula setting that covers both internationalized field knowledge and practices in China. While teaching whole fundamentals in economics, the program pays more attention to the application and practices of these theories. This ensures that international students in China acquire globally-standardized field knowledge as in developed countries, and at the same time, get a deep understanding of the social, historical, cultural and economical development in China, which will equip them with greater advantages in the job markets of China as well as their home countries.

International Economics and Trade

International Economics and Trade bases on the fundamental economics and emphasizes on the theories and policies of international economics, international tradeand overseas investment in the global economy, as well as on the operation of international trade and overseas investment in real world practices. This is a four-year program with the first half focuses on the fundamentals of economics and improvement of the skill in Chinese language, while the latter half lies on the field courses and practice in the field of international economics, international trade, and international investment. The major of International Economics and Trade is designed to train graduates equipped with solid foundation of field theory on international economics and trade, skills required for practices on international trade and investment, and skills of multicultural communication.

Information Management and Information System

Managing information is a competitive necessity for organizations worldwide. New information communication technologies have led to growth, opportunity and disruption for businesses, and the skills to drive opportunity through information management are in high demand.The major of Information Management and Information System gives students the skills and knowledge to engage with the information society as a leader, innovator and entrepreneurial manager. They can learn to understand and integrate contemporary theory while exploring the latest trends. Taught by our leading academics and business practitioners, students will be shown how to select and use cutting-edge tools and techniques to solve complex business challenges, with opportunities to gain hands-on experience through live case studies and projects. E-commerce

E-business and E-commerce are changing the way private and public sectors deal with their stakeholders. Higher cost-efficiency and direct one-to-one relationship are attainable thanks to the models currently available on the market. These changes involve a clear adjustment in organization work-flow and communication strategies, though. In this evolutionary perspective, the major of E-commerce is aimed at deepening the e-commerce rationale from front edges and raise awareness of market’s state-of-the-art development and providing students with marketing sensitiveness and operational knowledge to set-up e-commerce models and accelerate online sales. Industrial Engineering

The major of Industrial engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with the optimization of complex processes, systems or organizations. Industrial engineers work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, man-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value. Industrial engineering is concerned with the development, improvement, and implementation of integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, materials, analysis and synthesis, as well as the mathematical, physical and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems or processes. Program alumni usually start their careers in industrial and commercial enterprises,the administrative department of the government and universities or colleges, etc.

Economic Statistics

The major of Economic Statistics aims to cultivate students with solid foundation of economic statistics theory and economics theory, and to master modern statistical analysis method and computer application skills. Besides, students can acquire modern statistical analysis methods and bring up strong ability of innovation and adaptability, therefore grown into an inter-disciplinary talent in economic statistics. Program alumni are found to have brilliant skills thus usually start their careers in government's economic management departments, scientific research and education departments or other related fields.

Logistics Management

Logistics Management is the governance of supply chain functions. Logistics management activities typically include inbound and outbound transportation management, fleet management, warehousing, materials handling, order fulfillment, logistics network design, inventory management, supply/demand planning, and management of third party logistics services providers. To varying degrees, the logistics function also includes customer service, sourcing and procurement, production planning and scheduling, packaging and assembly. Logistics management is part of all levels of planning and execution -- strategic, operational and tactical. It is an integrating function, which coordinates all logistics activities, as well as integrates logistics activities with other functions including marketing, sales manufacturing, finance, and information technology. Program alumni usually start their careers in professional logistics enterprises, foreign trade corporations, bonded areas or transportation enterprises, etc.

Logistics Engineering

Logistics Engineering is a field of engineering dedicated to the scientific organization of the purchase, transport, storage, distribution, and warehousing of materials and finished goods. Logistics Engineering as a discipline is a very important aspect of systems engineering that includes reliability engineering. It is the science and process whereby reliability, maintainability, and availability are designed into products or systems. It includes the supply and physical distribution considerations above as well as more fundamental engineering considerations. Obviously, Logistics Engineering is a complex science that considers trade-offs in component/system design, repair capability, training, spares inventory, demand history, storage and distribution points, transportation methods, etc. Program alumni usually start their careers in professional logistics enterprises, large-scale manufacturing enterprises, foreign trade corporations,ports or large-scale manufacturing enterprises, etc.

Public Administration(including Public Administration and Public Service Administration)

The major of Public Administration is a four-year program with the first half focuses on the fundamentals of professional basics and improvement of the skill in Chinese language, while the latter half lies on the specific courses and practice in the field of Public administration or Public Service Administration in accordance with their own interests and learning conditions.

Public Administration

Public administration can be defined as the implementation of policy by civil servants within an official government's executive framework. An undergraduate degree in public administration provides an academic background for individuals pursuing a career in either government or non-governmental/nonprofit organizations. There are several areas of overlap between these pursuits, so an education that combines both will give students competitive strength and allow them to move into either area, according to their own career interests. Program alumni may start their career in fund-raising for a nonprofit organization, and later become a member of a governmental grant-awarding body. A public administration degree gives you great flexibility in changing career titles.

Public Service Administration

The need for leaders of character and integrity in public life is greater than ever. The demand for accountability and ethical behavior has increased in recent years and is unlikely to diminish. The major of Public Service Administration develops principled leaders for the public and nonprofit sectors, providing students the tools and knowledge they will need in order to perform effectively and ethically in a time when public servants face new and increased challenges. Program alumni may start their careers in a governmental grant-awarding body or HR Business industry, etc.
